The Pentagon is upgrading the F-16 to fly the stealthy Joint Strike Fighter in an attempt to keep it from becoming too expensive to maintain.

The Air Force is also working on upgrades to the Super Hornets for the 2020-2022 budget year.
The Air National Guard will spend $4.1 billion on upgrades and other items to the aircraft.
