Evcon has announced it will hire more than 3.8 million employees globally in 2019, up more than 20% from the year before.
The company said Thursday it will add about 700 jobs at its Austin, Texas, plant.
Evcon is the world’s largest maker of air conditioning, furnaces, and other cooling equipment.
The new jobs will help Evcon close a $3.4 billion deficit for 2019, which was the company’s largest in eight years.
The company has been working hard to reduce its debt, and it also has plans to slash costs and hire more employees in the coming years.
But for Evcon, the jobs are a major boost for the Texas economy, which is already on the upswing after the global economic crisis and the shale gas boom.
Evcon said the jobs come as part of a $6 billion corporate and government investment plan.
The plan includes investments in new facilities, infrastructure and technology, the company said in a statement.
