Toyota announced plans on Monday to build 3,000 Camaro models in 2018, bringing the total number of variants it plans to produce in the US to over 6,000.
Toyota plans to add up to a total of 12,000 new vehicles to its US assembly lines in 2018.
The automaker announced that it would invest more than $4 billion to create an assembly line in the Austin, Texas area to build its next-generation Camaro.
Toyota is targeting a total output of 12 million Camaros in 2019, up from about 6 million in 2018 as it ramps up production of the new Camaro, which will replace the current Golf R.
